A Christmas Carol - November 2008.
The Civic Hall.
This popular story by Charles Dickens with music by Michel Legrand and Lyrics by Sheldon Harnick was presented extremely well.
The Orchestra, of Double Bass, Reeds, Keyboards, Piano and Percussion conducted by Helen Heaton produced a delightful sound throughout.
The clever sets worked well although it was a pity the scenery was rather late coming on during Scrooge’s return to his bedroom after the Ghost of Christmas Future.
The period costumes were correct and very good and the chorus singing and acting was at its usual high standard.
All the cast gave very good performances especially Bryan Hussey as Scrooge. I was most impressed with the Cratchit family who all spoke out well and sang extremely well.
This is not an easy show to stage but Director Phil Courage did a marvellous job and presented a production that looked beautiful and was most enjoyable.
