Swinging and dancing to
well-known numbers

It's a Swing Thing Civic Hall, Trowbridge

MEMBERS of the Trowbridge Amateur Operatic Society took on a stiff challenge to converting the county town to swing - and they certainly met that challenge.

Presenting three nights of swing music, dating from the 1920s to the 1950s, taking in Broadway, the Rat Pack and popular wartime tunes, the cast performed in solos, duets and chorus numbers - backed by the professional Mike Lock Band - at the Civic Hall last week.

The cast burst on to the stage with a swing medley, full of energetic dance moves to set the evenings' themes alight, taking in well-known numbers such as In The Mood, and Sweet Georgia Brown.

Among the highlights were the War Time trios of Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy and Chatanooga Choo Choo, as well as Lisa Hayes' rendition of Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man.

The audience of Saturday night were encouraged to join in for the final number, We'll Meet Again, before the cast hit the dance floor themselves - amazingly full of energy after the three hour-long show.
